Situated in the middle of the Mediterranean, Malta is a destination you might want to consider for your next trip.

The Maltese archipelago is made up of three habited islands; Malta, Gozo and Comino and four other inhabited islands.

Covering 300km, although small in size, the Maltese islands make up for this with their vast landscapes and vivacious localities which offer something for everyone!

This European destination is the hub of activity and some of the finest attractions the Mediterranean has to offer.

1. Bring on the sunshine

The weather in Malta is ideal for anyone looking to brighten their vacation with some island weather.

Whether you’re visiting Malta during summer, when the beaches glisten, or during the colder months, the weather is favourable for walks through Malta’s most appealing landscapes with warmer temperatures and enough hours of sunshine for anyone to enjoy. 

2. Cultural Hub 

If you’re looking to experience an array of historical significances then look no further as Malta has been the central mark of some of the most remarkable upheavals Europe has seen with 7,000 years of history.

You can visit some of the oldest megalithic temples in the world or even one of the 300 churches found across Malta and Gozo.

One should also pay a visit to Malta’s current capital city, Valletta, and Malta’s former capital Mdina, also known as the silent city. This island is also home to various fishing villages, underground catacombs and forts built by the knights of St. John - all of which are not to be missed.

3. A taste of the good life 

Above anything else, the Maltese especially love their food. If you’re looking for passionate Mediterranean food, then Malta is the place for you.

4. A day in (sunny) paradise

With the island surrounded by azure crystalline waters, a beach is never too far away. Since the island is relatively small, you’ll avoid lengthy commutes and you can visit more than one beach a day as they are no more than 15 minutes apart from each other.

From the hot summer months when you can enjoy a dip in the sea, to the fresher months when you can lay on the sand and grab a bite to eat whilst you enjoy the warm breeze. 

5. Island hopping

Visit one of the other islands like Gozo or Comino, offering a more serene experience than that of Malta, also home to a greener side of these archipelago islands.

Gozo is a ferry ride away from Malta and caters to most tourists with a wide variety of restaurants and activities such a renting a quad bike and riding around the island in a day.

Once you’re in Gozo you can also pay a visit to one of the beaches that surround the sister island, or even the more historical sites and lastly some of the local sites which have been featured on the popular Tv series ‘Game of Thrones’, such as the Azure Window which is a natural arch by the sea.

Gozo is the perfect rural getaway and should definitely be included in your travel itinerary!
