A few of the international celebrities that have visited Malta

Several international artists have been to Malta. Check out what they had to say about the warm island!

Jamie Oliver

In 2014, Jamie Oliver payed a visit to Malta and documented his indulging of the Maltese cuisine over the week. Till this very day Angelica in Valletta boasts of its rabbit dish - supposedly the “best rabbit in Malta” according to Jamie Oliver.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

Brangelina (when it was still a thing) visited Malta in 2015 to film and direct ‘By the Sea’. The couple took a liking to the island and celebrated their honeymoon on the island for 3 months. The location was no random choice, though. Pitt had previously experienced the island while filming World War Z and Troy.

Madonna

Madonna visited Malta in 2001 to film Guy Richie’s ‘Swept Away’. Although the movie received horrible reviews, the case and crew of the movie all had an enjoyable time on the island.

Elton John

In 2003, Malta was plastered with Elton John posters in hopes to promote his first concert on the island. Following the successful turn out, Sir John returned in 2010 and performed alongside Ray Cooper.

Steven Spielberg

Not to brag but Steven Spielberg deemed Malta to be “a great film location” in 2005, following the completion of Munich. Spielberg was spotted all around Malta during the Summer of 05 during the production of his award-winning movie.

Robin WIlliams

In the late 1970s, Robin Williams debutted in Popeye. The actor spent four and a half months on the island. Unfortunately, Williams didn’t get to enjoy the island much - he was too busy working on set but the Maltese were honoured to have hosted such an icon.

Lady Gaga, Jessie J, Rita Ora, Nicole Scherzinger…

Top international singers travel to Malta every Summer to perform in the much awaited: Isle of MTV. All the artists had a galore of good comments to spare about the island as did the Maltese locals about them.
